Spring Babies

These adorable baby robins are right outside our dining room window. We've had a great time watching them! They hatched 6/26. My kids have named them Lenny, Franny, Jennifer and Joel. I can only find 3 in this photo they are such a fuzzy mess! Mama Robin is very attentive and one of the most healthy looking robins we've seen.

New Haven Chorale 60th Anniversary Gala!

This necklace and earring set was designed specifically for the New Haven Chorale 60th Anniversary Gala. The pieces are designed with Freshwater Pearls, Quartz Ice Crystals and mixed metals. The necklace is about 18" long, and the earrings are about 2" from the bottom of the french wire hook. This is a one-of-a-kind set and will not be reproduced. I hope the winner of the silent auction enjoys them for many years!

In Rachel's Memory Bracelet

On Saturday, March 13, 2010, there will be a live and silent auction at the Greene Community Center in Guilford starting at 6:30pm. The auction is to honor Rachel Garcia, a lovely 12-year old girl who passed away right before Thanksgiving 2009. 220 items have been donated for the auction! Everything ranging from vacation property, to room painting, to gourmet meals. In Rachel's memory, I created two Viking Knit pieces to donate to the auction.

The bracelet is single Viking Knit in purple, with lavender freshwater top drilled pearls and seed beads with glass end cap beads and a lobster clasp.

Viking Knit

Viking Knit is a centuries-old tradition of hand weaving wire around a mandrel (or form such as a dowel). The series of loops and swags creates a rough looking tube of wire. Once the tube is yanked through a draw plate (a board with multiple hole sizes drilled out), the tube compresses and turns into a most delightful work of wearable art! Voila!

Antique bronze colored copper wire and amazonite beads make a lovely contrast.

These green rings are embellished with freshwater pearls.

The Viking Knit is lightweight and very comfortable to wear. Pairing the wire with different materials really can change the piece from casual to formal and any where in between!

New Year's Resolution(s)

Yes, it's almost the end of February already, but it's still early enough in the year to make a positive change. Really, it's never too late to make a positive change.

With that said, I am committed to posting more photos of my work on a regular basis. If you'd like to be added to my occasional e-blast, please email me with your address and I'll let you know the happenings of String It On! Honest, I only email out a few times a year, so no deluge of inbox junk from me.
